Budapest is divided into 2 parts by the Danube River: Buda and Pest. Let’s discover the hilly historical Buda Castle area. You will love this tour as we will enjoy the best panoramic viewpoint from the top of the Buda Castle Area-from the so-called Fishermen’s Bastion. It overlooks our fantastic House of Parliament. Each tower represents one Hungarian pagan tribe from the 9th century-from the time when the Magyars arrived in this area.
Let’s admire together the Matthias Church’s incredible mosaic tile rooftop. What an architectural journey! The church base is from the post-Tatar invasion era(13th century), the main gothic facade is from the 15the century, meanwhile, the roof and the interior is from the Austro -Hungarian Monarchy time (1896). Have you ever seen an Eastern European Baroque Trinity Column? Well, across from the church we can admire one and I will explain why do you see so many of them in Eastern Europe.
Let’s hear a little bit more about the fascinating turbulent Hungarian history. I can not wait to show you the magnificent statue of St Stephen, the founder of Hungary. He is the One who converted the pagan Magyars into Christianity, got crowned, and founded Hungary.
My favorite part to show you the Hotel Hilton built during the Communist Era in the 70s. During the construction, it turned out that the whole area is actually a 15th century Dominican Monastery ground. Well, they have redone the blueprints and integrated the Hotel Hilton into the Monastery ruins in 1976.. It is really fascinating and unique!
