The dark ages of the city of Rome – a stroll in the city center walking along some of the most famous spots of Rome!
The main characters of this tour are people who left a deep evidence in past of the city, but always acting in the background of the main stages of history. This tour is a stroll through two very important centuries the ‘500 and the ‘600: we will walk in the Rome of the popes soon after the Martin Luther reform in a scenario made up of public executions and populated by rebels, thieves, poison makers, courtesans, famous painters, popes and very powerful women.
Walking into the city center we will see some piazzas, palaces and street corners. And starting from the actual description of the location we will walk back in time and see how they got transformed or how they are still very well preserved.
Digging into tragical and fun facts of Rome, we will discover the dark side of one of the most iconic cities in the World: Rome!

Hello, my name is Cristiano.
I am an Italian licensed tour leader based in Rome. I was born in the province of Lecce in Puglia 32 years ago. I attended classical high school and then studied foreign languages at the university. After my studies I left Puglia and moved to Rome.
I have been working in the tourism field since the beginning of my adventure in Rome covering several roles. Responsable of the ticket office for the airport transfers, touristic coordinator at the Vatican Museums and then I achieved my Tour Leader License and I start escorting people not only through Rome but troughout the whole Italian Peninsula.
What I love the most about my job is to put people from abroad in contact with Italian traditions and habits, to use storytelling as a tool to explore different moments of our past and present without turning it into a history lesson. Secrets, curiosities, side stories and traditions are the essential ingredients of all of my tours.
