Let me walk you along the water side to one of the “must sees” in Stockholm; the Grand City Hall!
You might think this is no highlight, but you will be surprised how many exciting details there are, both regarding the building itself, but not to mention the fantastic stories about Mr Alfred Nobel and the grand prize awards, handed out in Stockholm every year since 1901 ( with nowadays a few exceptions… ).
Our City Hall is also the home of the local politicians, therefore I feel obliged to throw in some information regarding how Stockholm and Sweden also is governed. And if you want to – the thoughts behind some internationally controversial decisions…
We start our walk from one of the oldest parts of Stockholm, Riddarholmen, which was populated by the Franciscan monks in the 13th C. Sometimes I need to alternate a part of this walk with a small boat tour due to the street constructions; but I think you’ll just like that! Reaching the King’s Island, where the City Hall is located, we enjoy the gardens and the great view and fun details around the building….
