A pleasant walk along the Guadalquivir River is the perfect excuse to learn about so many interesting topics. From the Arab period of the city at Torre del Oro, Golden Tower, to bullfighting when walking past the arena (Maestranza Bullring), and flamenco across beautiful Triana Bridge.
We will be hearing about the Golden Tower, an arab fortress, a witness of the prosperous harbour of the city at the times of the discoveries. The famous bullring where most renonwed bullfighters had been consacrated and real scenario for Carmen, the best known opera based in Seville.
Once we walk across the bridge, you are going to be transported into a popular district: Triana, the cradle of flamenco and bullfighters. This is the area where the famous Seville tiles were manufactured. Whereas factories have been moved out of the city, some workshops survive where artisans produce their ceramics.
Some surprises hidden here and there. Just let me share one with you: Magellan’s expedition departed from this very river!
