Today I would like to invite you to discover a magical place with me: Mijas Pueblo is a unique small town located in southern Spain in the region of Andalusia, overlooking the Costa del Sol. Mijas is structured like in the old Moorish times – one of the best preserved small towns in Andalusia! We will discover how its extraordinary Moorish past has influenced the beauty of Mijas and how it has managed to retain a very authentic Spanish charm until today.
We’ll start our visit with a monument of a donkey, because Mijas is famous for their burro (donkey) taxi. The donkeys will be there waiting for us! Then I would like to show you the breathtaking views of Costa del Sol. We will continue our walk to a small chapel: the Grotto of our Lady Virgen de la Peña. The shrine was built in 17th century and you will find out about its legend.
Afterwards, I will take you for a walk through the small, narrow streets with their white-washed houses. We will pass by the local bull ring, which is still in use, and you will discover the most charming street of Mijas. We will finish our tour on the main square of the town.
