Barcelona in the XIX century was called the Manchester of Spain because of many factories and industries. Along with the factories came the barracks and shacks by the beach area that were built by the workers migrating from all over the country.
In 1992 Barcelona hosted the Olympic Games and the city went through a major transformation, specially the industrial neighbourhood called Poblenou.
In our walk we,ll see some of those fantastic buildings, former factories, towers, chimneys, etc that were once part of the industrial Barcelona. And also the amazing remodeling that was necessary for the city to become Olympic.
We,ll also walk by the marina and the beach of the Olympic Port and we,ll finish in front of a gorgeous Modernist water tower that belonged to the old main gas factory in town.
Ready to explore that great part of the city? Come Walk with me!
