The Heart of Lisbon

The Heart of Lisbon

Product Description

Lisbon lives through it’s unique charm, it’s famous tiled buildings, it’s artful cobbled sidewalks, it’s colours. But you haven’t seen it until you go to one of the countless viewpoints over the city. Don’t you worry, because that’s exactly where we will start our walk: Mirador de São Pedro de Alcantara, definitely one of the most emblematic vistas over the old town and the ruins of St. George’s Castle.

From there we will make our way downtown, jumping on one of our funiculars, which are part of the public transportation system to make going up and down Lisbon’s hills all the  more exciting. Once downhill we will stroll through the heart of the city and see a few big squares carrying great historical, cultural and social importance.

We will continue through the pedestrian area of Baixa district (downtown) where traditional and modern shops co-exist. Finally, opening up to the river, we will make arrive at the biggest and most important of all squares called Praça do Comercio. It is here, where once a Royal Palace stood, from which the king would observe the returning ships unload their spices and goods. Today it is where we convene for New Year’s eve and where we sit by the waterfront watching the sailboats – and on very lucky days we are even greeted by a dolphin or two.
