Product Description

Louis the XIVth, Sun King, commissioned his visionary landscape designer, André Le Nôtre, creator of the gardens of Versailles, to lay out this amazing “lanscaped alley” in the late XVIIth century.

Kings, empereurs and presidents after him have left their mark on the avenue, and it has been – it still is ! – the location of many major events in the history of Paris and France. Along with the Eiffel Tower, it has become a symbol of Paris.

The idea of this walk is to discover its lower part and its surroundings – with even a glimpse of the Eiffel Tower from the Alexander the IIIrd bridge on the nearby Seine river. We’ll get a feel for the scale of the avenue, we’ll walk along its little-known gardens, we’ll see where the office of the French president is located – right in the heart of one of the most fashionable areas of XVIIIth century Paris. We will talk about world fairs, peace celebrations, sports events – including the Tour de France. We will end our walk on Concorde Square, where we will mention the French Revolution… and much more !
