Product Description

Inle Lake is located in the eastern region of Myanmar, Shan Highlands, also know as the Shan Plateau. It’s a fresh water lake between two mountain ranges and the second largest lake in Myanmar. Covering an estimated area of 44.9 sq mi, the length from north to south is about 11 miles long and 4miles wide at an elevation of  2915 ft. A cool climate makes Inlay lake a highly popular summer resorts, providing tranquility and serenity for both residents and visitors.

There are 47 villages around the lake and 27 villages on the lake. The lake dwellers and their primary culture include attractions like the floating gardens, the unique leg-rowers, flat-bottomed boats, traditional fishing methods , fabric woven from lotus stalk and silk used for colourful traditional costumes, the experience of travelling across the lake by long-tail boat and more.

On this tour, we will explore the main income for the lake dwellers: the floating gardens! Floating islands are forming in the lake naturally and are turned into unique floating gardens with the skilful effort. We will talk with the farmers and watch how they work their plantation and prepare the gardens.

On the second leg of our journey, we will watch a fisherman and their unique method of catching fish with a conical shaped trap made of bamboo.

Maybe you cannot walk with me, but join me on the boat instead, so I can show you the beautiful customs of Myanmar!
