Product Description
I often tell my guests that before any paths were opened in Paris, there was already a “road” here, the Seine river. In 1991, large parts of its banks were listed as World Heritage by the UNESCO.
On this walk, I invite you to rediscover a jewel that lies on the river, right in the heart of Paris : the City Island, home to one of the most famous cathedrals in the world, Notre Dame de Paris.
Walking along its streets and embankments – les quais, as we say in French ! – gives us the opportunity to talk about how this island, and more generally the city itself, came to look the way they do. It enables us to recall events of the French Revolution at the Conciergerie palace, to pay a tribute to the soldiers and Parisians who participated in the Liberation of Paris in August of 1944, to, of course, view amazing architecture – of the island and its surroundings – and, always, to talk about everyday life in Paris. And, maybe, who knows, catch a glimpse of Quasimodo…
This might sound like an oldie, but trust me, we will make it a real Goodie !
