In this tour we will have the opportunity to explore the heart of Madrid from Puerta del Sol to Plaza Mayor.

We will discover the secrets of the famous square Puerta del Sol as the Kilómetro “0”, from where the 6 main radial roads of Spain depart to the coast areas.

This square is one of the busiest walking places in the city for locals and visitors as it connects with interesting areas as Puerta de Alcalá, the avenue of Prado Museum, some important shopping streets as Gran Via, The Royal Palace or the Opera House known as Teatro Real. For many locals as me, is the easier spot to meet friends, easy to find and well communicated by public transportation.

I will show you there some of the references that will describe the identity of Madrid as the statue of El Oso y el Madroño or the clock that is the Spanish reference for New Year’s eve.

Then, I will take you to discover Plaza Mayor, a perfect example of spanish square where the city neighbours gather during the years. It was the place where we have introduced the children of monarchs, celebrated bullfighting, located supply markets and nowadays we can find traditional restaurants to try good Spanish dishes as Bocata de Calamares.
